Stimpy, or Stimpson J. Cat, is the goofy, big-hearted cat from The Ren & Stimpy Show. Ripple’s CTO David Schwartz got his alias “JoelKatz” from a friend who picked “Stimpson J. Katz” for his high school BBS account, later simplified to “JoelKatz.” Ripple deleted the 2017 interview explaining this (https://ripple.com/insights/ask-me-anything-with-david/), but it’s preserved on Wayback Machine (https://web.archive.org/web/20230328051212/https://ripple.com/insights/ask-me-anything-with-david/).
